Iowa State’s student chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) is currently in Phoenix, Arizona enjoying honors, competitions and professional development opportunities in the organization’s Annual Student Conference – with one of the highlights being honored as the Outstanding Student Chapter of the Year for the 2021-2022 academic year.

The chapter has also competed in the national finals of the Chem-E-Car competition, which features student teams involved in a distance competition with vehicles they construct that use chemical reactions to start and stop. This marks the seventh consecutive year the Iowa State chapter has competed in the finals.

Twenty Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering undergraduates have made the trip to Phoenix. While the experience is definitely worth the trip, it is costly. Prior to departing, the chapter’s faculty advisor Dr. Stephanie Loveland estimated more than $10,000 had been spent on air and hotel reservations and conference registration fees alone.

The chapter has established a FundISU page through the Iowa State University Foundation to allow contributions that will help defray some of these costs. Contributions can be made through December 9 and different giving levels, ranging from $5 to $1,000, are available. The FundISU page can also be accessed using the QR Code displayed on this page.

The chapter’s strong history and traditions of success is a credit to its outstanding students willing to put in the hard work necessary. Your support can help ensure this success now and into the future.
